INVISIBLE

Help your business get found in AI.

Explore Michael J. Goldrich’s book on the changing discovery journey.

Invisible – What to do when AI Erases Your Business

Your rankings are stable. Your reviews are strong. Your website works. None of that protects you anymore.

When a traveler asks ChatGPT or Perplexity which hotel to book, one of two things happens. Your property appears in the answer. Or it does not. No second page. No alternatives. A recommendation and a decision.

Invisible gives you a complete, repeatable framework to get found across the full Visibility Stack: SEO, AEO, GEO, and real-time AI Visibility. No proprietary tools. No guesswork. Your customers already ask AI before they decide. This book helps you understand the gaps and work on your visibility.

Put the Book to Work:

Invisible - What to do when AI Erases Your Business

Written by a practitioner for practitioners. This playbook gives any business professional a clear, step-by-step framework for understanding why AI search has fundamentally changed how customers find you, and what to do about it. The primary goal is strategic: show you how to get found, cited, and recommended by the AI platforms your customers already use to make decisions.

The book builds your understanding in sequence. Early chapters document the discovery crisis, explaining what AI-mediated search actually does to your traffic, your rankings, and the bookings or leads you never knew you lost. You will learn how to assess your own vulnerability, measure your current visibility across ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity, and benchmark your position against direct competitors.

From that foundation, the playbook moves into execution. You will learn how to implement Schema.org structured data, build a three-tier citation network that AI platforms trust, and create content designed for AI extraction rather than human browsing. Each chapter translates directly across industries. A law firm, a retailer, a SaaS company all face the same AI retrieval logic. Only the prompt wording changes.

Organic traffic swung from 47.9 percent growth to negative 6.7 percent after Google launched AI Overviews. That is a 54.6 percentage point reversal. It happened in a single year.

Businesses that delayed mobile investment watched competitors claim the advantage. Those that ignored social media lost customers they never got back. This is that moment again. Except this time, the window is shorter.

Get Found Again

Something fundamental broke in how people find businesses.

For twenty-five years, discovery worked the same way. A person typed words into a search engine. The search engine returned a list of links. The person clicked through to websites, compared options, and made a decision. Every business built its digital strategy around earning a position on that list.

That model is breaking apart. The fractures are already visible.

AI systems increasingly answer the question directly. The customer asks what to buy, where to stay, which product to choose. The AI responds with a specific recommendation, a specific reason, and a specific set of facts supporting the choice. The customer never sees a list of links. The customer may visit a website later to complete a transaction, but the discovery decision already happened. The customer never encounters your brand unless the AI decided you were the answer.

That is what invisible means. Your business still exists. Your website still works. Your reviews still shine. None of it matters if the AI does not know you are there. The shift from search results to AI-generated answers created a new form of competitive exclusion. Businesses that appear in AI recommendations get considered. Businesses that do not get skipped. There is no second page of results to scroll to. There is no list at all.

This transformation affects every industry that depends on search-driven discovery. Retail, financial services, legal, healthcare, SaaS, real estate. Any business that a potential customer might research before purchasing faces the same structural shift. Algorithms are replacing search results. The question of whether your business appears in AI-generated answers is becoming as consequential as whether your business appeared on the first page of Google a decade ago

Michael J. Goldrich began his career at Accenture building internet strategy for enterprise clients before most companies had a website. He then spent twenty years leading digital strategy at major hospitality brands, including having previously served as Chief Experience Officer at a hotel direct-booking technology provider, before founding Vivander Advisors.

He helps organizations solve three connected problems: they are invisible to AI platforms, their teams lack the skills to work effectively with AI, and they have no clear strategy for what comes next. Through AI visibility diagnostics, advisory engagements, and workshops, he gives leadership teams a clear read on where they stand, a roadmap for closing the gaps, and the organizational capability to execute.

Goldrich serves as Co-Chair of the Hospitality AI Council at HFTP and co-leads Data Strategy for Generative AI Platforms in Kellogg Executive Education at Northwestern University. HSMAI recognized him as one of the Top 25 Extraordinary Minds in Sales, Marketing, and Revenue Optimization. The International Hospitality Institute named him a Top 100 Digital Thought Leader in Hospitality.
